First the common belief

Dyslexia is considered by many to be a learning disability. It manifests primarily as a difficulty with written language, particularly with reading and spelling. It is separate and distinct from reading difficulties resulting from other causes, such as a non-neurological deficiency with vision or hearing, or from poor or inadequate reading instruction. This is why some people seek help for dyslexia.

Here is the truth.

Dyslexia as actually a gift. Why? Because dyslexic people are visual, multi-dimensional thinkers. We are intuitive and highly creative, and excel at hands-on learning. We approach problems differently, and so arrive at novel and innovative solutions which other people overlook. Some of the best entrepreneurs in business are dyslexic, and they have used it to their advantage.

Evidence suggests that dyslexia results from differences in how the brain processes written and/or spoken language. Although dyslexia is allegedly the result of a neurological difference, it is not an intellectual disability, and Dyslexia occurs at all levels of intelligence.
